Official end for the Recovery Fund: Mitsotakis ‘presses the button’, submits the final payment request
With the submission of the final payment request from the Recovery Fund, the multi-year cycle of the Greek “Ελλάδα 2.0” (Greece 2.0) programme closes, as ProtoThema reports. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the offices of the Recovery Fund’s Special Coordination Service on Panepistimiou street in Athens and symbolically “pressed the button” for the submission of the request, according to the same outlet’s reporting.
According to ProtoThema, the prime minister thanked the staff for the work of recent years, carried out within very tight deadlines. He returned to the five days of negotiations in Brussels for the creation of the Recovery Fund, where Greece managed to secure considerable European support relative to the size of its economy.
Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis announced that the final request submits 123 milestones and targets for assessment, paving the way for the disbursement of €6.75 billion, as ProtoThema reports.
In total, the programme fulfilled 376 milestones and targets — 176 investments and reforms — bringing €35.95 billion in European funding to the country; through the loan scheme, €46 billion in financing is mobilised for businesses with low-interest loans. The funds go to infrastructure, healthcare, education, the digitalisation of the state, social cohesion, investment and new jobs.
