Parents of ‘Jovan Jovanović Zmaj’ Gymnasium in Novi Sad file complaint against principal — he blocked the constitution of the Parents’ Council

Parents of students at the “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” Gymnasium in Novi Sad announced today that they have filed a new complaint against the school’s principal, Radivoje P. Stojković. According to their announcement, the principal has failed to fulfill his obligations regarding the constitution of the Parents’ Council.

The reason for the complaint, the parents emphasize, is that the principal — despite an education inspection order dated March 11, which issued a standing measure requiring the school to enable the Parents’ Council to review the annual plan at the start of the school year — has still not convened the Council’s constitutive session, a duty assigned to him by the Work Regulations.

Under the Law on the Foundations of the Education System and the school’s Statute, the Parents’ Council reviews the proposal for the gymnasium’s annual plan, which must be adopted by September 15 of the current school year; consequently, the Council must be constituted no later than that date.

The inspection order was issued precisely because last year the Parents’ Council was never constituted at all, the parents note.
