Partizan opens the EuroLeague with a big win: 92:76 over Armani in Belgrade

Partizan Belgrade started the new EuroLeague season in the best possible way, defeating the Italians of EA7 Emporio Armani Milano on Friday evening in Belgrade with a convincing 92:76 result, in the first-round game.

The main protagonist of the victory was Carlik Jones, the captain and leader of the team coached by Joan Peñarroya. The South Sudanese basketball player scored 20 points and dished out 10 assists, registering a “double-double” that made the difference on the court.

Partizan’s performance also impressed former club basketball player Nikola Lončar. According to him, unlike past seasons, the team did not drop its level of play during the game and started the match at a high level, despite coming from the preparatory period. “Biće dosta teško da izgube neku utakmicu kod kuće sa ovakvom igrom” — said Lončar, stressing that with this kind of play it will be very hard for Partizan to lose home games, as Danas reports.

The winning start in front of the fans in Belgrade gives Peñarroya’s team confidence and momentum for the rest of the EuroLeague season.
