‘Partizani’ case hearing postponed by two weeks as lawyers’ boycott blocks the trial
The trial hearing on the merits in the “Partizani” case has been postponed by two weeks due to the absence of all defense lawyers, who have joined the boycott.
According to reports, the boycott was triggered by the new regulation banning lawyers from entering court premises with mobile phones. However, the judicial panel itself was reportedly seen with mobile phones. Also on Monday, other scheduled trials are being postponed.
Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha faces corruption charges, while his son-in-law Jamarbër Malltezi and businessman Fatmir Bektashi are accused of corruption and illegal money laundering.
