PDK unanimously adopts three-point Political Declaration on the Specialist Chambers: vote on the bill, unlimited financial support for the defense, backing for protests
The Steering Council of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) convened on Friday evening and, following the verdict of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, unanimously adopted a three-point Political Declaration, as Klan Kosova reports.
In the first point, PDK calls on the Assembly of Kosovo to vote on the bill submitted by the party, with the proposed amendments to the Law on the Specialist Chambers, and to review the relevant legislation and agreements — with the aim of strengthening procedural guarantees, transparency and institutional accountability.
The second point calls on the Government and the Assembly of Kosovo for unlimited financial, professional and technical support to the defense teams of the four former KLA leaders in further legal proceedings, including the appeal. The declaration underlines the vital importance of this judicial process for Kosovo and the diplomatic commitment to high standards of adjudication.
In the third point, the Steering Council expresses support for popular protests against the unjust decisions of The Hague, calling on citizens to join them — in the context of the march announced for October 1 at “Skënderbeu” square in Pristina.
PDK leader Bedri Hamza called the verdict unjust, unacceptable and politically influenced. At the start of the meeting, a minute of silence was held in honor of Flora Brovina.
