Përparim Rama: Ferdonije Qerkezi is not protesting for herself
Prishtina mayor Përparim Rama said that Ferdonije Qerkezi’s participation in the protest against the Specialist Court’s verdict is a moral act that holds everyone accountable, as Klan Kosova reports.
Through a Facebook post, Rama said that Ferdonije Qerkezi is not protesting for herself, and that her story is “our collective conscience.”
“In a single day, Serbian forces killed her husband and four sons. The youngest son was only 14. They left her alone. They extinguished her doorstep, but they couldn’t silence her voice,” Rama wrote in his post.
According to Rama, when Ferdonije Qerkezi finds the strength to take to the streets against injustice after all that tragedy, “this is not just a protest. It is a political and moral act that holds us all accountable. Ferdonije Qerkezi is not protesting for herself. In her feet stands an entire history. In her silence are thousands of voices. In her resistance is Kosovo that refuses to forget.”
Rama closed the post with the message: “A state that knows the price of freedom must never relativize injustice.”
