Pestova Clarifies Slovenia Case: It’s About a Limited Batch of “Flips Ketchup,” Not “VIPA Chips”

The company “Pestova” has reacted regarding the case reported in Slovenia, clarifying that it concerns a limited batch of the “Flips Ketchup” product and not the “VIPA Chips” product.

In its reaction, the company announced that immediately after the notification it acted in cooperation with the Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV).

“After clarifying the situation, and on the recommendation of the competent authorities in Slovenia, the products were released onto the market for free circulation,” Pestova’s reaction states.

The company stressed that its products continue to be sold regularly on the Slovenian market and in other European Union countries.

Pestova has denied that dairy products are used in the production process of its products.

“We want to emphasize that at no stage of production, on no line and in no Pestova product is milk, lactose, whey or any other dairy by-product used,” the reaction states.

According to the company, this has also been confirmed by the official inspection of the AUV, while Pestova claims the reported traces do not originate from its production process.

“Their source is being verified through additional analyses in accredited laboratories, and we will share the conclusions with the competent authorities and the public as soon as they are final,” the company announced.

Pestova has stated that for years it has operated according to international food safety and quality standards, being regularly certified by independent organizations and monitored by local and European authorities.

The company said it remains committed to consumer safety and preserving their trust.

Separately, during the day the Food and Veterinary Agency announced that the food product “Flips Ketchup” produced by Pestova with expiry date 11.02.2027 is being withdrawn from the market.

The Food and Veterinary Agency (AUV) assessed that the product in question is considered unsafe for consumers sensitive to the milk allergen.

“The AUV has immediately launched traceability for the production and marketing of the product,” the announcement states, among other things.
