Pete Davidson speaks for the first time about the details of his romance with Kim Kardashian

Pete Davidson has spoken openly about his romance with Kim Kardashian, four years after their split, revealing that the extraordinary media attention that accompanied the relationship was too difficult for him. In a new interview for Variety, the 32-year-old comedian recalled his nine-month romance with Kardashian, 45.

Joking about Kardashian’s dating history, Davidson said: “I am one of the survivors — one of the few and the proud. We are like the Marines.”

However, behind the humour lay an experience that, according to him, was not at all easy.

“It is a very difficult atmosphere if you are not prepared for it,” Davidson said, referring to life under constant public scrutiny.

He praised the way Kardashian and her family coped with fame.

“One of the things I like about Kim and her whole family is that they say: ‘This is what we do.’ I found that very attractive and mature,” he said.

Davidson added that Kardashian had always respected his space and had never forced him to take part in anything he did not want to.

But life under the constant watch of the paparazzi, the security and the feeling that he always had to look over his shoulder were particularly difficult for him.

“For a guy who had mental health problems and, at that time, drug problems, that way of life was a bit too much for me,” he confessed.

Davidson, who is now sober and has put substance use behind him, said he has no regrets about the relationship with Kardashian.

“We are good and I have a lot of love for her. I knew what I was getting into,” he said.

Davidson and Kardashian met in October 2021, when she hosted Saturday Night Live. The pair kissed during an “Aladdin”-themed sketch, and a little later began dating in real life as well.

Kardashian later recounted on her family’s reality show that during that sketch she had felt a special chemistry and had decided “to try something different”.

Their romance quickly became one of Hollywood’s most talked-about relationships.

Davidson even got several tattoos connected to Kardashian, among them the phrase “My girl is a lawyer”, in a reference to her efforts to become a lawyer.

He also had a tattoo on his collarbone with the words “Jasmine and Aladdin”, in honour of the SNL sketch where they kissed for the first time.

The couple split in August 2022, citing commitments and busy schedules as one of the factors.

Today, Davidson is the father of a daughter, Scottie, whom he has with his ex-partner Elsie Hewitt. He has also spoken publicly about his journey toward a life without drugs and alcohol.
