Petrov: SDSM has fallen to 8% support — we must not wait for the catastrophe
The former secretary general of SDSM and former mayor of Skopje, Prof. Andrej Petrov, appeared last night, September 29, 2026, on the “Noćno studio” program of television 4TV, where he gave a harsh assessment of the state of his party.
Petrov said support for SDSM has fallen to 8 percent and that the party is at an “existential minimum”. Change, according to him, is urgent and the catastrophe must not be awaited — this is also the central message of the reform Platform “12:05”, as 4NEWS reports.
He criticized the current leadership of Venko Filipče, but did not spare the previous leaderships of Zoran Zaev and Branko Crvenkovski either, emphasizing that the party has suffered a serious cadre and political deviation, for which several generations of leaderships bear responsibility, according to reporting by nacionalno.mk.
In the same vein, SDSM deputy Slavjanka Petrovska said that “SDSM fought against the captured state and itself became a captured party”, linking the fall in support to unfulfilled expectations from the time of the “Colorful Revolution”.
The “12:05” Platform announced that it seeks to contribute to creating a broader opposition front, at a moment when the party is facing the deepest crisis of its political existence.
