Police give details on the false bomb alarm at “Emin Duraku” school — here’s what happened

A false call about a terrorist attack and hazardous materials at a nine-year school mobilized the Tirana Police, the Anti-Explosives Unit and the Anti-Terror Unit this morning.

According to the State Police, Anti-Terror Unit specialists arrested Mandi Jatagani, 47, suspected of the criminal offenses “False notification to law enforcement bodies” and “Spreading false information that causes panic.”

The incident occurred around 06:30 on September 14, 2026, when the 47-year-old is suspected of calling the Tirana Police claiming that a nine-year school contained mass-destruction materials and a terrorist threat.

After the report, police forces carried out the necessary checks and verifications in the school premises. The checks revealed the information was false and no hazardous materials were found.

According to the investigation, Jatagani is suspected of having published the same false information on social networks as well, further spreading the alarm.
