Premier League / Manchester City charged: British prime minister reacts — “Don’t jump to hasty conclusions!”

English football suffered a major shock on Friday afternoon after news that Manchester City have been found guilty of 114 charges of breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

The situation also drew the attention of British prime minister Andy Burnham, who appealed for calm and for people not to reach hasty conclusions.

“The independent commission’s report must be examined,” the head of the UK government cabinet said. “People should not rush to reach conclusions. I know it has been a long process between the club and the Premier League. I believe it is a process with plenty of discussion. So I don’t think it is that simple. I believe we all should study this report before drawing any kind of conclusion,” he said.
