Pro-European coalition “Europe Serbia” gathers signatures — list to be submitted to the REC this weekend

The pro-European coalition “Europe Serbia”, made up of the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP), “Srbija centar” (SRCE) and the “Solidarnost” movement, has collected the required number of signatures to run in Serbia’s upcoming elections and will submit its candidate list to the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) over the weekend, most likely on Sunday.

This was confirmed to the Beta agency by a source from the coalition’s leadership. The same source dismissed reports by several portals that today’s meeting of the “Srbija centar” presidency would discuss whether or not to run in the elections. “Our coalition is definitely running. The topic of today’s meeting is determining the final ranking of candidates on the parliamentary list,” the source said.

In recent days, several “Srbija centar” committees from Serbia’s interior asked the party leadership not to run in the elections and to support the Student List “Students Win”.

Zdravko Ponoš, president of SRCE and holder of the “Europe Serbia” list, told N1 that these elections are not only an opportunity to free the country from the SNS government, but a choice over whether Serbia will have multi-party parliamentary democracy or not.
