Production of “The Batman Part II” temporarily suspended: director Matt Reeves steps back over a “family matter”

Production of the long-awaited sequel “The Batman Part II” has been temporarily suspended, as director Matt Reeves is dealing with a “family matter,” as Deadline reports.

The studio’s official statement reads: “Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios, and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”

Filming had been under way in London for more than three months. According to Deadline’s sources, it is still too early to speculate whether the halt will affect the release date, set for February 18, 2028.

The film has had a difficult path: it was initially set for October 2025 and has been postponed several times. Returning to the cast are Robert Pattinson as Batman, Andy Serkis as Alfred and Colin Farrell as Penguin, alongside new faces Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Charles Dance and Brian Tyree Henry.
