Skender Hita takes part in the European Convention of Police Chiefs: Cooperation with international partners

The Director General of the State Police, Skender Hita, has taken part in the European Police Chiefs Convention (EPCC).

Before the start of the conference, Director Hita was received in a separate meeting by the Acting Executive Director of Europol, Mr Jürgen Ebner.

Also present at this meeting was the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Artur Kuko.

Europol’s Acting Executive Director, Mr Ebner, congratulated Director Hita on his post and praised the determination shown over these months to deepen cooperation with law-enforcement agencies and international partners. He underlined the importance of cooperation with the State Police as an important partner in the Western Balkans region, and praised the work and commitment of Albania’s Liaison Office at Europol, the growth of operational cooperation, reflected in the increased number of exchanged intelligence reports, joint investigations and engagement in Europol and EMPACT mechanisms.

Mr Ebner stressed that these results have been achieved thanks to the ever-growing professionalism and credibility of the State Police, positioning Albania at an equal level of cooperation and trust with its European counterparts.

Director Hita thanked Mr Ebner for the reception, the appreciation and the trust Europol has in the Albanian police, and stressed that Europol’s support — through expertise, logistical base, timely exchange of information, joint investigations and operations — is indispensable and serves the common goal of uncompromisingly striking at organised crime.

“I want to assure you that my vision in leading the State Police is clear and well oriented: close cooperation, without barriers, with law-enforcement agencies inside and outside the country, and with partner police forces, contributing worthily to European security. We are at war with the crime of modern times, where technology, just as it serves us, also serves crime, which is globalising more by the day. Therefore, strengthening professional and operational capacities, acting with partners, without barriers, is very important. This is the right way to succeed in our mission. Thank you for the hospitality, and I wish successful proceedings to the European Convention of Police Chiefs, a convention of multidimensional importance in the interest of the rule of law,” Hita said.
