Protests in several Kosovo municipalities; Pristina heads into 11th straight night against the Hague verdict
Not even heavy rain stopped the citizens who took to the streets yesterday in several Kosovo municipalities, in protest against the verdict of the Specialist Court in The Hague against the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA). The protests were organized by the KLA War Veterans’ Organization, in the cities where it has branches and structures, as Klan Kosova reports.
Among the protesters were war veterans, family members and ordinary citizens, who expressed their dissatisfaction with the first-instance verdict against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. The protests were held under the motto “Not in my name,” while in some cities participants also faced rainfall.
In Pristina, the rally continued last night as well, marking the tenth consecutive night of protest. It began at 9:00 p.m., and among the participants were family members of the former KLA leaders, as well as figures from political and public life.
The protest in the capital is expected to continue tonight as well: starting at 9:00 p.m., citizens are expected to gather again in Pristina for the 11th straight night, in protest against the verdict of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague.
