Qatar: normal gas production to resume “several weeks” after Hormuz is reopened
Qatar could resume normal production of liquefied gas several weeks after the Strait of Hormuz is reopened, Qatari energy minister Saad Sherida al-Kaabi, who is also chief executive of the state company QatarEnergy, said on Sunday.

Speaking at the Qatar Economic Forum, al-Kaabi said the company is currently producing a “very small” quantity of LNG, and that critical equipment has been unable to reach the country because of the Hormuz crisis, through which around a fifth of global oil and LNG passed before the conflict.
The statement comes at a time when maritime traffic in Hormuz remains almost paralyzed by the US-Iran war, putting global energy supplies under heavy pressure and driving oil and gas prices to record levels.
Qatar, one of the world’s largest LNG exporters, has presented itself as a “committed partner in mediation and a reliable energy supplier,” according to the Qatari prime minister, who is mediating the resumption of US-Iran talks.
