Reece Weaver extends her run in “Chicago” on Broadway: her Roxie Hart plays through November 1
The former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders star and Netflix "America's Sweethearts" standout continues her Broadway debut in the longest-running American musical in history
Reece Weaver will extend her run as Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical “Chicago” through Sunday, November 1. The extension was announced by BroadwayWorld, after her Broadway debut in early September drew major interest from audiences.
Weaver is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and one of the most recognizable faces of Netflix’s documentary series “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders,” where she became known over three seasons in the iconic blue uniform. After leaving the Dallas squad, she devoted herself to the musical stage and made her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart — the infamous murderess of the legendary 1920s Chicago musical.
The current Broadway cast of “Chicago” also includes Lissa deGuzman as Velma Kelly, Max von Essen as Billy Flynn, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron “Mama” Morton, Red Concepción as Amos Hart and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine.
“Chicago,” with a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, is the longest-running American musical in Broadway history. The production won six Tony Awards in 1997, including Best Revival of a Musical, as well as the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album.
