Robert Eggers’ “Werwulf” drops a cryptic new teaser: full official trailer out today, September 26
Director Robert Eggers, the name behind the critically acclaimed horrors The Witch and Nosferatu, has stirred fan interest with a new 15-second teaser for his medieval film Werwulf. The short clip ends with a howl and an ominous moon behind the clouds, leaving viewers with an unsettling early sense of the film’s atmosphere.
The teaser was released on the film’s official X account, which also announced that the full official trailer drops today, September 26, 2026. This is the film’s second piece of promotional material, after the first trailer released June 29, 2026, while the official poster was unveiled a month later, in July.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson stars in the lead role, joined by Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp — the trio that worked with Eggers on Nosferatu (2024). Ralph Ineson, another trusted collaborator of the director, also joins the cast. The screenplay was written by Eggers together with the Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón, while the official logline describes the film as “a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within man.”
Eggers has previously stressed that the mythology of Werwulf does not follow the classic werewolf-movie clichés — no bite that turns into a curse, no silver bullets. The U.S. cinema premiere is set for December 25, 2026 — according to ComingSoon.
