Romanian Party in Serbia Gives Full Backing to Student List, Urges Romanians to Vote for Students
The Romanian Party (Partidul Român) in Serbia has announced it will give unconditional support to the “Student List – Students Win” list in the early parliamentary elections of October 25, according to a statement from the party’s leadership cited by the Nova.rs portal.
The party says the decision continues the agreement reached in May in Kovin with representatives of the Student Movement. “In line with the agreement we reached in May in Kovin with representatives of the Student Movement, our party gives unconditional support to the electoral list ‘Student List – Students Win’,” the statement, signed by party president Dr. Sfera Jon, says.
The support, according to the party, will not remain merely declarative: all organizational capacities will be placed at the list’s disposal during the election campaign. The party believes students bring “the needed generational change, social solidarity and new energy” to the political scene and that their political engagement can contribute to the fight against electoral apathy.
The Romanian Party stresses that in the Student List it sees a political option with a civic profile and democratic, European values, particularly for its positions on education, institutions, the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
At the end of the statement, the party calls on all members of the Romanian national minority in Serbia, as well as the wider public, to vote for the Student List in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
