“Ronaldo erupted because he felt betrayed by Jesus”, a friend of the striker reveals what happened behind the scenes
Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly decided to leave the national team’s training camp in Copenhagen because he felt “betrayed” by Jorge Jesus. The claim was made by Spanish journalist Edu Aguirre on the programme “El Chiringuito”, who is known for his close relationship and long-standing friendship with the Portuguese striker.
According to the Spanish journalist’s account, the turning point came after a meeting held on Tuesday evening, attended by Cristiano Ronaldo, Jorge Jesus and Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). During that conversation, the national team coach, the same source adds, admitted he had been wrong to send CR7 out to warm up for around 30 minutes and then not bring him on in the match against Norway. The coach also admitted this publicly at the press conference.
“On Tuesday evening there was a meeting between the Federation president, Jorge Jesus and Cristiano. Jorge Jesus apologised for leaving Cristiano warming up for 30 minutes without coming onto the pitch”, Edu Aguirre revealed, adding details of the commitment made: “And he not only apologised privately, he also said he would apologise publicly. That was Jorge Jesus’s promise to Cristiano Ronaldo.”
However, the outcome turned out to be entirely different. Hours later, when he appeared before journalists, Jorge Jesus’s remarks were reportedly the opposite of what had been agreed behind closed doors, sparking the anger of the Portuguese international.
“Then Jorge Jesus goes to the press conference and says all those lies with his chest puffed out. That is why Cristiano erupts. Because he feels betrayed”, the Spanish journalist added.
