RTS invites Vučić and Srdanović to a televised debate ahead of parliamentary elections
Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), the public media service, has invited the two leading list-holders to a debate — the candidates whom polls give the best chance of winning seats in Serbia’s new National Assembly.
The invitation was sent to Aleksandar Vučić, the holder of the “Ujedinjena Srbija – Aleksandar Vučić” list, and to Ilija Srdanović, the number one of the “Studentska lista – Studenti pobeđuju” (Student List – Students Win) list. Vukosava Crnjanski, director of the civil-society organization Crta, was also invited to take part in the program.
RTS says that, as a public service, it aims to open space for serious, reasoned discussion of the key issues for Serbia’s citizens, political programs and the conditions under which the electoral process is taking place.
Background: Serbia’s snap parliamentary elections are held on October 25, while the first election debate — between Ana Brnabić and rector Mirjana Nikolić — aired on television N1 on September 24.
It is worth noting that Srdanović earlier said he feels no “obligation to debate anyone”, so his response to the RTS invitation remains to be seen, as Danas reports.
