San Sebastián 2026: full winners list — Mike Leigh’s ‘Tender Loving Care’ triumphs with three awards, ‘La Bola Negra’ takes the audience prize

Mike Leigh’s Tender Loving Care was the big winner at the 74th edition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival, taking home three of the main awards: the Golden Shell for best film, best screenplay and best leading performance, as festival organizers announced on Saturday.

The jury’s special prize went to Ah Biao’s Border, while the best director award was presented to Amanda Kernell. La Bola Negra won the audience award, according to El País.

Leigh, 83, received the Golden Shell in person at a ceremony in the Kursaal, drawing one of the longest ovations of this year’s edition.
