Scandal deepens: SHISH wiretapped family members of SPAK prosecutors
The 90 minutes that Prime Minister Edi Rama spent in the same room with the head of the Special Prosecution Office, Klodian Braho, were not as calm as the statement issued after the National Security Council meeting, by Bajram Begaj’s press office, tried to portray.
At Monday’s meeting, which Rama himself requested from the U.S., after the unprecedented scandal of the head of the State Intelligence Service herself being put at the service of organized crime, the President had also invited SPAK chief Klodian Braho.
What he expressed publicly as soon as he was in Rinas, about the way Vlora Hyseni was treated, seeking an arrest measure for the sitting head of the secret services, Rama appears to have also expressed at the closed-door meeting at the Palace of Brigades.
Lapsi.al has learned from internal sources that the SPAK chief insisted that placing Hyseni under “house arrest” was a necessary measure because of her strong implication in the criminal group led by businessman Ergys Agasi.
The same sources confirmed for Lapsi.al that the head of SPAK declared before the members of the National Security Council that SHISH had gone so far as to engage in illegal wiretapping of the close family members of two Special Prosecutors who hold the much-discussed AKSHI abuse file, in which businessman Ergys Agasi is involved. With these wiretaps, according to Braho, the aim was to put pressure on the SPAK prosecutors investigating this affair.
Such a strong statement made those present look at each other, showing once again how deep the scandal is and how far state institutions have been tainted in the service of organized crime.
However, Rama appears to have stuck to the idea that “SPAK rushed”. This also appeared in the statement issued after the meeting, which stressed that “for national security, institutions do not compete with each other”. The rest of the statement was Rama’s old concern that the criminal proceedings of his elected officials are individual matters.
“Individual cases should not turn into a crisis of trust toward the state and toward the security institutions,” said the top of the presidency’s announcement.
Now Rama seems to want to shift attention from the essence of the scandal. The problem for him is not the violation of one of the most important institutions in national security, but the way Vlora Hyseni was treated. First the line of a “love story” was pumped up, while now the concern is the release of the files. Even alongside Ursula von der Leyen, Rama insisted that “what was done to the Service, with the method by which the case was treated, is unprecedented in the history of the world”.
In fact, what is “unprecedented in the history of the world” is the “switching off of the radars” of an entire state for criminal organizations. (c) LAPSI.al
