Seized properties generate 180 million lek in rental income

Revenue from renting out seized and confiscated properties has risen markedly this year. In eight months, the state has collected around 180 million lek, 30% more than a year earlier.

The state has markedly increased revenue from leasing seized and confiscated assets. Data from the agency administering these properties shows that during January–August 2026 around 180.3 million lek was collected, or approximately 1.8 million euros.

Compared to the same period last year, revenue grew by around 41 million lek, or 30%.

This shows that assets passing under state administration are increasingly being used as a source of income, rather than remaining unused during court proceedings or other legal procedures.

The growth has appeared in most months of the year. In January rental revenue reached around 19 million lek, rising to 22 million in February. The positive trend continued in June, with 23 million lek in revenue.

In economic terms, the growth shows an effort to turn seized and confiscated assets into income-generating activities.

This approach matters for public finances, as the state secures revenue while avoiding the costs of losses that could arise if these properties remained closed.
