Serbia loses the bronze-medal drama at the U23 3×3 basketball World Cup

The Serbian U23 3×3 basketball national team was left without a medal at the FIBA World Cup taking place in Wuhan, China, after being defeated by Australia 22–20 in the game for third place, after overtime.

The game was dramatic. Serbia fought back into the game after trailing by five points midway through, while Australia twice missed the penalties that would have given them victory — once in regulation and once in overtime. Overtime is played until one team reaches a two-point advantage, and at the decisive moment Vuk Vukićević missed a two-point shot that would have brought Serbia the win. Australia capitalised and closed the game with the two needed points.

Vuk Vukićević, Marko Đorđević, Lazar Kovačević and Miloš Cvrkota played for Serbia. Despite the great comeback in the second half of the game, the Serbian team failed to climb onto the podium and leaves Wuhan without a medal at this World Cup.
