Serbia seek redemption against the Netherlands in the Nations League — Sunday’s showdown at ‘Rajko Mitić’

Serbia continue their journey in the elite division of UEFA’s Nations League, and the next challenge is the clash with the Netherlands, played on Sunday, 27 September, kicking off at 18:00 at the “Rajko Mitić” (Marakana) stadium in Belgrade, as Danas reports. For fans who will not be in the stands, the match will be broadcast live on RTS 2 and Arena Premium 1.

Serbia opened the campaign with a bitter home defeat to Greece, 2–1, in the first round. That is precisely why, according to Danas, the encounter with the Netherlands is the ideal chance for redemption — three points are almost mandatory if the Serbs want to stay in the race for the top of the group.

The opponent is of the highest calibre: coach Xavi Hernández’s Netherlands, who, together with Germany, are considered the main favourites of Group A2 in League A. Xavi himself, as quoted by Danas, expects a difficult match against Serbia, well aware of the pressure the Marakana brings.

The packed schedule makes Sunday decisive for the group: that same evening, at 20:45, Germany host Greece in the round’s other fixture, meaning every point in Belgrade could shift the balance at the top of the table.

Serbia will look to exploit home advantage and the backing of the fans to restore confidence after the defeat to Greece, but against a Netherlands side playing for first place, a maximum performance will be required. The answer comes on Sunday evening from the Marakana.
