The Socialists refuse any debate on Vlora Hyseni in Parliament, arguing that it is time for the justice system to deal with the former head of the State Intelligence Service.

Using the words of the President of the European Commission during the conference with Prime Minister Rama, the majority at the Conference of Chairpersons did not accept the DP’s request for a motion with debate on what filters Vlora Hyseni passed through in 2023, when she was placed by Edi Rama and Bajram Begaj at the head of Albania’s intelligence service.

“No later than yesterday, Ursula von der Leyen confirmed: ‘When we see cases that are being investigated, they are proof that the system is working. This is the empowerment of the system.’ So let us let the system do its work. No instrument of parliamentary control, from a motion with debate to a parliamentary investigative commission, can replace, influence, condition or hinder the full and independent investigation by SPAK prosecutors,” declared the head of the SP parliamentary group, Taulant Balla.

Faced with the majority’s opposition, the opposition members insisted that the motion with debate has nothing to do with the SPAK investigation file, but with the procedures followed for her appointment when she came from Kosovo to Albania to head the SHISH.

In this context, the head of the Democratic parliamentary group also scorned the statements of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen standing beside Edi Rama.

Bardhi warned of swift disappointment for the senior Brussels official.

While Rama and Von der Leyen declared that justice is working, Bardhi sharply attacked the government’s latest initiative to change the criminal procedure code, in his view a clear attempt to limit the judiciary’s action against crime and corruption.

“It aims to sterilize SPAK,” Bardhi said.

Meanwhile, Democratic MP Sajmir Korreshi, during a television interview on A2CNN, commenting on Von der Leyen’s statements of yesterday, said among other things, with notes of sarcasm, that “those who had prepared the briefing for the head of the EC must have been drunk.”
