SSP: 44,141 Serbian voters in 61 countries registered for October 25 elections — most in Bosnia, Germany and Austria
A total of 44,141 Serbian voters in 61 countries have registered to vote abroad for the early parliamentary elections of October 25, the Party of Freedom and Justice (SSP) announced today, as reported by the newspaper Danas.
Marko Dimić, deputy member of the voter-register review commission on behalf of the SSP, said the largest number of registered voters is in Bosnia and Herzegovina — 12,608 voters, followed by Germany with 7,189, Austria with 2,805, the U.S. with 2,412, Italy with 1,889, Switzerland with 1,657, Canada with 1,302 and Montenegro with 1,208 voters.
Next come the United Kingdom with 1,076 registered, Slovenia with 1,066, France with 1,029, Sweden with 877, Spain with 868, the Netherlands with 829, Norway with 814, North Macedonia with 744, Australia with 618 and Belgium with 543, the SSP statement said.
Dimić accused the Republican Election Commission (RIK) and the Foreign Ministry of Marko Gjurić of “hiding data on the number of voters registered to vote abroad” — which is why he considered it his duty, as deputy member of the commission, to make public the figures they have collected.
He recalled that opening a polling station abroad requires at least 100 registered voters — although a polling station can also open with fewer registered voters, but that requires a special decision by the RIK.
