Stefkowski threatens Levica councillor with “liquidation”: “Careful not to end up like Oki and Zhila”

According to Makfax’s reporting, the mayor of Gazi Baba municipality, Boban Stefkowski (VMRO-DPMNE), threatened Levica councillor Maja Nikodinovska during a municipal council session, telling her: “Watch what you say, so you don’t end up like Oki and Zhila”.

According to Levica, the threat was repeated twice during the session. It followed the councillor’s questions about reports of high concentrations of faecal matter and E. coli bacteria in water taken from the municipality, as well as about a rejected initiative on illegal landfills in the municipality and a rejected amendment on air purifiers in schools.

Oki (Orhan Bajrami) and Zhila (Jeton Krivaneva) were informal leaders of Skopje’s “Duqandzhik” criminal group. Zhila was liquidated at the Shisha Bar in Skopje’s Old Bazaar in March 2023, while Oki was liquidated in Hanioti, Greece, a few months later.

Levica says that Stefkowski, realising the threat had been made publicly and had been recorded, ordered administration staff to delete the recording of the session. Levica stresses that it will not accept a politics conducted through intimidation and death threats.
