Štip presses on with investments: new ‘Dhekson’ sports hall, multi-storey garage and a rich cultural offering

Štip continues in 2026 with investments in infrastructure, sports, culture and support for children and youth, as Makfax reports — mayor Ivan Jordanov has presented the completed and ongoing projects.

In social and child protection: financial support for families of children with disabilities (from first to ninth grade in regular municipal schools); scholarships for pupils and athletes continue; free uniforms begin for pupils up to fifth grade, Makfax reports.

In infrastructure: the “Pitu Guli,” “Džemal Bjedić” and “Kežovica” streets reconstructed; after five decades the “Boris Kidrič” street was fully reconstructed and put back into operation. In Belo Brdo and Levaci the full reconstruction of road infrastructure older than 60 years was done, while construction began on the new road connecting “Todor Kolarov” and “Mirče Acev” — better access to the “Jane Sandanski” school and the new Clinical Hospital, easing traffic congestion.

Parking: a new three-storey parking garage (50 vehicles) at the “Promaja” building; new parking zones in Prebeg, in the courtyard of the “Jordan Mijalkov” sports hall and at “7-te kuli” near the Faculty of Economics. Capital projects: the city bypass, new water reservoirs, reconstruction of bridges over the Bregalnica river. The municipality is creating a new green belt — a mega park of about 70,000 square meters along the Bregalnica. Štip is the first municipality to introduce sophisticated automatic software for parking registration and payment, according to Makfax.

Sports: increased support for sports clubs; the new “Dhekson” sports hall with a capacity of 1,300 seats was put into use — “a true sports temple in the city,” Jordanov said.

Culture: the “D Festival” was organized for the second consecutive year; the municipality continues financing and organizing “Makfest,” the “Astibo Jazz Festival,” “Pastramajlija,” the “Shtip Street Festival” and “Piano Golden Talents.”
