“Stop femicide”: second day of regional femicide conference at Skopje’s Parliament
The second day of the Regional Conference on Femicide in Southeast Europe was held at North Macedonia’s Parliament in Skopje — a gathering that has brought together institutional representatives, international organizations and civil society from the region, as the Makfax agency reports.
During the proceedings, the head of the OSCE Mission in Skopje, Kilian Vall, presented the findings of the “Femicide Watch” analysis: of 92 cases reviewed, 43 were classified as femicide or attempted femicide — a figure that, according to him, shows the real scale of the problem and the need for coordinated action.
Vall stressed that the fight against femicide is a shared responsibility of institutions and of society as a whole, calling for faster and more effective institutional responses to violence against women.
The conference aims to exchange regional experience and strengthen prevention and protection mechanisms, at a time when femicide remains one of the gravest challenges to women’s safety in the region.
