Strong storm hits Syros: problems on roads and in central Ermoupolis

A strong storm has hit the island of Syros today, causing serious problems on the roads and in central Ermoupolis, as ProtoThema reports, citing Cyclades24.

According to Cyclades24, a car went off the road in the Apollonos street area and ended up in a manhole, interrupting traffic on that stretch.

On the road toward Panachrantos a tree has fallen, while on the Ermoupolis promenade large amounts of water have accumulated in several spots, making pedestrian movement difficult.

Due to the intensity of the rain, several manholes have overflowed and water has even lifted their covers, creating additional danger for pedestrians and vehicles.

So far no injuries have been reported. Authorities advise great caution when moving around, especially at spots with accumulated water and around overflowing manholes.
