Tenth day of protests, organizers: If needed, we will live on the square
On the tenth day of protests in front of Kosovo’s institutions, citizens continued to demand institutional support for former members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, following the verdict of the Hague Special Court.
Despite the rain, protesters gathered once again in Pristina, repeating their demands and calling on MPs of the Kosovo Assembly to vote on the Special Court law that has already been submitted to the Assembly.
Protest organizer Çlirim Haziri said that for ten days in a row the protesters have been asking and waiting, stressing that their demands are already clear.
“Today marks ten days since we have been meeting here, talking, asking and waiting, and tonight even in the rain we are here again. Our demands are already known: the demand for the submission of the law — it has been submitted to the Assembly, each MP should vote according to their own conviction, but they must vote, because you cannot keep this suspended and let all the people grow weary. If needed, we will live on the square, and if we start, where will you live? Do not forget: if we live here, you cannot sit in peace thinking that silence will close these issues, because the KLA is not part of daily politics, as the Minister of Justice said today. The KLA is the history thanks to which we have institutions and ministers today, and therefore this history deserves institutional support, not silence,” he said.
Singer Violetë Kukaj said the protesters had gathered for a cause that must continue to be supported in the days ahead.
“We have gathered here for our cause, but not only today — always to stand together to defend our right, for the holy war of the Kosovo Liberation Army,” she said.
