Territorial reform: Mat’s municipal council approves the dissolution of Klos municipality, 14 votes in favor of the merger

The Municipal Council of Mat approved this Monday (September 21) the proposal to dissolve the Klos Municipality and merge it with the Mat Municipality, as part of the new administrative-territorial reform.

The decision was taken during an extraordinary meeting, following the conclusion of public hearings in Mat’s 8 administrative units. 20 of the 21 municipal councilors were present at the meeting.

During the discussions, councilors expressed their positions on the draft project proposed by the majority, which foresees that Klos will no longer function as a separate municipality but will join Mat.

After the discussions, the proposal was put to a vote, with 14 councilors voting in favor, 5 against and 1 abstaining.

The position of the Municipal Council and the Mayor of Mat will be forwarded to the Assembly of Albania, while the final draft of the territorial reform is expected to go to parliament for a vote on October 8.
