The ageless Fernando Alonso! Aston Martin confirms him for the 2027 championship too

Fernando Alonso has swept away the last doubts, and Aston Martin did not think twice about confirming the two-time world champion for a fifth consecutive year. In 2027 the 45-year-old Asturian will take part in a Formula 1 World Championship for the 24th time.

He began his career back in 2001, missing only 2002 and the 2019–2020 two-year span. Lance Stroll has also been confirmed by Aston Martin.

“Aston Martin Aramco confirms that Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso will continue as the team’s drivers, extending their long-term contracts. As the most experienced drivers in Formula 1, the pair will continue to offer Aston Martin Aramco invaluable racing and technical knowledge as the team builds on the work done in the 2026 season. The commitment of both drivers shows their strong motivation and faith in the team,” the Aston Martin statement reads.

“I am very happy to sign a new contract with Aston Martin Aramco. I took time to decide, but racing is my life, my passion. I know I still have the speed and focus to compete at high levels. I truly believe in what we are building,” Alonso said after the renewal.
