“The fight against crime in focus” – Minister Demo gathers the police directors and gives his orders: Prevention and increased security

Interior Minister Ervin Demo held a meeting with the leaders of the State Police at central and regional level, focused on raising security parameters, strengthening prevention and responding with the force of the law and professionalism to every form of illegality.

Minister Demo asked the leaders for detailed and up-to-date information on the criminal situation across the territory, especially in risk areas where criminal activity takes place in the fields of narcotics and gambling, as well as on locating and capturing wanted persons of high social dangerousness and high public impact.

Special focus was given to preventing and cracking down on unlicensed possession of weapons. The minister asked for police intelligence to be used and for surprise interventions against persons who dare to move around carrying firearms, in order to prevent and crack down on this phenomenon.

One of the main tasks Minister Demo left to the central and local leaders was implementing the School Safety Package, stressing that pupils’ safety is the priority above all priorities. He asked for maximum commitment from all structures to guarantee security in and around school perimeters.

Demo also asked the local leaders for maximum commitment, asking them to stay at the head of services in the field and to follow the territory’s problems directly. Service to citizens, conduct and ethics in communicating with them, and following up dynamically on their concerns and referrals, are the basis for increasing citizens’ trust in the State Police.

The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, thanked the interior minister for his support and assured him of the determination of the State Police structures to continue their professional work, in close cooperation with law-enforcement agencies and citizens.
