The ‘Taiwan’ area at the former Rinia Park will change again, Rama: The aggression against us is jealousy! Here is why architects are needed

The Taiwan area in Tirana will change again.

The Prime Minister said the area is neither as it was in the ’50s, when Rinia Park was created, nor in the ’80s, when Taiwan was built, nor in the 2000s, when it changed again.

During the presentation of the projects, the head of the Albanian government used the occasion to defend the idea of building towers with the community of foreign architects. Those who attack this, including international media, do so out of jealousy, Rama declared.

“There is something very clear to me, in this whole aggressive approach toward this whole process, toward all these projects, which is the jealousy of mediocre people who cling to nationalism, to the passport, to the fact that they are part of the local community, and do not cling to the profession, the arguments and the possibility of being competitive,” Rama said.

He further added:

“Building towers is so complex, so delicate and requires so many professionals brought together, that we must accept that we do not yet have in Albania all the capacity and all the knowledge to carry out construction of this nature. We must accept this, because we have seen the attempts and we are very clear that this will come step by step, but to get here we also need this whole process, we need this whole community of architects. So here we are not dealing with a community of businessmen who come from all over the world to exploit Albania. Here we are dealing with a community of knowledge, a community of visions, a community of talents, a community of creators who bring to Albania, of course, their professionalism to carry out projects, but they also bring to Albania a completely new culture, and we lay the foundations of an Albanian school of architecture.”
