The tragic death of Xhuana Nikolli, her ex-husband surrenders to police

Eraldo Fizi, the ex-husband of Xhuana Nikolli, has surrendered to Lezhë Police after being declared wanted over the death of the 25-year-old. Fizi is suspected of bearing responsibility in the event that led to Nikolli’s suicide.

Xhuana Nikolli poisoned herself with phosphine on the morning of March 10, 2026, in the rented apartment in Tirana where she lived. She was taken to hospital, but later died at the QSUT university hospital centre.

According to reports, at around 07:00, after her friend had left for work, Xhuana allegedly consumed phosphine. She then phoned one of her sisters, who lives in England, and told her what she had done.

The couple married in 2025, but the marriage lasted only about three months before they separated. According to the investigation, Fizi is suspected of having used violence against his ex-wife, and that violence may have been the reason the 25-year-old took her own life. After the event, he was declared wanted by the police.

Family members have stated that the night before, on March 9, Xhuana had met her ex-husband, Eraldo Fizi. Now, after more than six months, Eraldo Fizi has surrendered to Lezhë Police, and he is expected to be questioned about the circumstances of the event.
