They posed as Taulant Balla to take €100,000 from Duka; the two young men give contradictory testimonies
New details have emerged from the investigations into the two young men arrested for attempted fraud against the President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, from whom they attempted to obtain the sum of €100,000 by posing as senior official Taulant Balla.
During questioning by the investigative group, the two detainees, Orest Balla and Edison Korra, gave different and contradictory versions of their role in this scheme.
Citizen Orest Balla claimed he was contacted on the social network “Instagram” by an unknown person, who promised him a reward of €2,000 to make a phone contact. He declared he had not previously known the other arrested man, Edison Korra, and that an unidentified person handed him a phone number with which he then communicated with Armand Duka’s son.
On the other hand, Edison Korra gave a different testimony, declaring that it was Balla himself who contacted him at a bar to propose taking an order.
Due to the deep discrepancies in the testimonies, the investigative bodies suspect the arrested are hiding the truth. Investigations continue to identify the persons behind the digital communications and to fully clarify the degree of involvement of the arrested in this fraud scheme.
