They sent patients to private clinics, SPAK sends the “Oncology” file for trial

The Special Anti-Corruption Prosecution (SPAK) has closed its investigations and sent the Oncology file for trial, with doctor Edmond Gashi, coordinator Emiljano Lela and M. S., suspected of being the person who bribed the doctors, as defendants.

The investigations found that doctor Edmond Gashi, in cooperation with his colleagues, had become part of a scheme that steered patients diagnosed with cancer to receive treatment at a private hospital, an activity for which they also received sums of money.

The prosecution also established that a piece of equipment at the oncology hospital has not been put into operation and used by that hospital for patients since 2021. It has instead been left in unsuitable conditions, becoming a source of danger because of the radiation the equipment emits, without the necessary conditions being created for it.
