Tlaib Urges Senate to Block $2.8 Billion Bomb Sale to Israel: “Taxpayers’ Money Is Being Used”

Palestinian-American Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has called on the U.S. Senate to block the planned $2.8 billion arms sale to Israel, a package the Trump administration is expected to approve.

“While Israel’s Defense Minister promises to ‘finish the job’ of the genocide in Gaza, the Trump administration is sending the apartheid regime $2.8 billion in bombs, using your taxpayers’ money,” Tlaib wrote in a post on the X platform.

According to her, the proposed sale includes 40,000 bombs, each weighing 2,000 pounds (about 900 kilograms). “The Senate must act to block this sale immediately,” she added.

Tlaib’s call comes as opposition to arms sales to Israel grows in Congress: this week, three Republicans joined Democrats in voting on the war powers resolution to end the U.S. war with Iran, and the House of Representatives passed the resolution — a fresh political blow to President Trump.
