Tony Gilroy’s “Behemoth!”, starring Pedro Pascal, closes the 27th Newport Beach Film Festival

Director Tony Gilroy’s film “Behemoth!”, starring Pedro Pascal, will close the 27th edition of the Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF), held from October 15 to 22, with the director himself present on closing night, as ScreenDaily announces.

The film’s world premiere takes place tonight, October 2, as the “Centerpiece” selection of the 64th New York Film Festival.

In the film, Pascal plays a once-talented former cello prodigy who abandons an orchestra in Chicago and returns to Los Angeles after 20 years to record film music in Hollywood and settle unfinished family business. The cast also includes Olivia Wilde, Eva Victor, Alexa Swinton, Kaya Ralls, Erik Griffin, JoBeth Williams, Margarita Levieva, as well as Hank Azaria and Will Arnett.

Gilroy is known as the director of “Michael Clayton”, “Duplicity” and “The Bourne Legacy”, the screenwriter of the first three films of the “Bourne” series and of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, as well as the creator and showrunner of Disney+’s “Andor” series.

The festival’s chief executive, Gregg Schwenk, said they could not have chosen a better way to celebrate the 27th anniversary: according to him, the film brings a deeply personal story about what music demands of the people who live inside it, while Gilroy’s presence for the question-and-answer session after the screening is exactly the experience that sets Newport Beach apart from other festivals.

Searchlight Pictures will release the film in cinemas in the United States on December 4.
