TOURISM – AA: Zvërnec, the natural pearl of Vlora
TIRANA, September 19 /ATSH-AA/ Where the bay of the Adriatic Sea meets the landscape of the Narta Lagoon lies Zvërnec, one of the most special areas of the Albanian coast.
Zvërnec is considered one of Vlora’s most special villages, known for its unique nature and cultural heritage.
Set by the lagoon, Zvërnec still preserves the atmosphere of a quiet place, where sea, forest and history intertwine.
A few kilometers from the city of Vlora, this territory interweaves sea, forests, lagoon and cultural heritage monuments, creating a landscape that in recent years has attracted local and foreign visitors.
According to official data from the Municipality of Vlora, Zvërnec, with its small island, is located 14 km from Vlora, where the Soda forest ends and the Narta Lagoon begins.
At the heart of this space lies the island of Zvërnec, covered mostly with pines, cypresses and other Mediterranean vegetation.
The small island is connected to the mainland through a wooden bridge, which crosses the calm waters of the lagoon and gives every tourist’s visit another dimension.
At the end of the bridge stands the Monastery of St. Mary, one of the area’s best-known monuments, dating back to the 13th century.
The lagoon surrounding the island is an ecosystem rich in biodiversity, with various water birds, including flamingos.
The calm waters and the reflection of the forest on the lagoon’s surface create a mesmerizing panorama for every visitor, while across lies the island of Sazan.
