Trial Over Deadly “Puls” Nightclub Fire Restarts From Scratch: 13 Police Officers Back Before Court
The trial of 13 police officers accused over the tragedy of the fire at the “Puls” nightclub in Koçani is restarting from the beginning. Due to a change in the composition of the trial panel, the court process will resume, bringing the defendants back before the court.
The 13 accused police officers face serious charges against general safety, linked to the tragic fire that broke out at the “Puls” discotheque in Koçani — one of the worst tragedies of recent years in North Macedonia.
The decision to return the process to the start was made after the change in the composition of the trial panel. This means all sessions held so far lose their procedural effect and the trial will have to be repeated from the beginning.
The tragedy of the fire at the “Puls” club in Koçani shocked public opinion in North Macedonia and across the region, raising many questions about safety at entertainment venues and about the responsibility of institutions.
The first session of the new process is expected to be held soon, while the prosecution and the defence will again present their evidence before the new composition of the court.
