Trump: Iran must behave “properly and wisely”, otherwise “it won’t be around for long”

U.S. President Donald Trump warned Iran that it must act “properly and wisely”, otherwise “it won’t be around for long”, in his latest statement on the U.S.–Iran confrontation, as Al Jazeera reports.

Speaking at the Peterbilt Motors truck plant in Denton, Texas, Trump said the confrontation will end “very soon”, without giving details of how. He threatened severe consequences if Tehran fails to reach a deal with Washington.

Trump also questioned Iran’s ability to keep its promises, saying: “When I make a deal with this company, you’ll keep it. When you make deals with them, there’s a good chance they won’t keep it.”

The statement comes after intensive talks in New York: Iran had proposed to Washington a full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz within seven days in exchange for lifting the U.S. naval blockade — an offer Trump rejected on September 26.
