Tyler Perry brings new Netflix thriller “Confabulation”, starring Taylour Paige and Lucien Laviscount
Tyler Perry is expanding his creative partnership with Netflix still further: the director and producer has begun filming the new thriller “Confabulation”, starring Taylour Paige and Lucien Laviscount, with Shamier Anderson in a key role, as Deadline first reported in an exclusive published on 29 September.
“Confabulation” follows a firefighter haunted by his past who struggles to distinguish reality from fiction as he risks everything to save his high-school sweetheart from her powerful husband — the truth emerges in a shocking twist that calls into question what is real and what is merely “confabulation” (invention, a false memory).
Perry writes, directs and produces the film, together with Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland. The main cast is joined in supporting roles by Nadine Ellis, Peter Parros, Najah Bradley, Mikeal Dwayne Griggs, Jenna Nolen, Michelle Núñez, Colin McCalla and Shelley Robertson.
Taylour Paige is known to Netflix audiences for her roles in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” alongside the late Chadwick Boseman and in “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F”, and recently appeared in HBO’s “It: Welcome to Derry”; Lucien Laviscount is Alfie in the hit series “Emily in Paris”, whose sixth and final season arrives at Christmas; Shamier Anderson is known from “John Wick: Chapter 4”.
“Confabulation” follows “Why Did I Get Married Again?”, Perry’s tenth collaboration with Netflix. According to production listings, filming began on 21 September at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta and is expected to wrap on 6 October; a premiere date has not yet been announced.
