U.S. Ambassador Wendt switches on the “diplomatic engine” in Tirana tomorrow — here is the Albanian government official he will meet
After presenting his credentials and holding a one-on-one meeting with President Bajram Begaj on Saturday, the new U.S. ambassador, Eric Wendt, has officially begun his duties with a traditional American flag-raising ceremony at the premises of Washington’s diplomatic headquarters in Tirana.
The photos of the ceremony were accompanied by this comment on the X platform: “A new chapter begins in Albania! The Marine Security Guard raised the American flag over the official residence as Ambassador Wendt takes up his duties. Under President Trump, our alliances are strongest when we stand together, share responsibility and build a more prosperous and safer future for both our nations” — the U.S. Embassy in Tirana.
After this ceremony, the former general, now ambassador as President Trump’s representative, switches on the “American diplomatic engine” on Wednesday by meeting the first official of the Rama 4 government.
TCH reports from diplomatic sources that on Wednesday morning (tomorrow) at 11:30, Ambassador Eric Wendt will meet Minister Ferit Hoxha at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
On Friday there is also the presentation ceremony at the Embassy. It is expected to be an introductory meeting with this ministry, with which Ambassador Eric Wendt will work closely over the next three years.
During his diplomatic mission, Ambassador Wendt has committed to advancing the priorities of President Donald J. Trump’s administration, including defense cooperation, economic growth and the fight against transnational criminal groups.
