“Unabomber” Hits Netflix Today: Jacob Tremblay and Russell Crowe in the Dark Drama About Ted Kaczynski

Netflix released globally today, September 25, the film Unabomber (2026), the crime drama dedicated to the controversial figure of Ted Kaczynski, one of the most notorious criminals in American history. The 100-minute film arrives on the platform after the release of the first official trailer in August this year.

The film is directed by Janus Metz, known for Borg vs McEnroe and All the Old Knives, with a screenplay by two Harvard graduates, Sam Chalsen and Nelson Greaves. At the center of the cast is Jacob Tremblay as the young Ted Kaczynski, alongside Russell Crowe as Harvard psychology professor Henry Murray. Other roles include Shailene Woodley as FBI agent Joanne Miller and Annabelle Wallis as Christiana Morgan, while Alexander Ludwig, Steven Ogg, and Marc Menchaca also join the cast.

The story unfolds across two timelines: in 1958, when Kaczynski, a 16-year-old math prodigy at Harvard, undergoes the controversial and secret psychological experiments of Professor Murray; and in the ’90s, with the FBI’s 17-year manhunt that led to his arrest. Kaczynski’s attacks killed 3 people and injured 23 others, making him one of the most feared figures in American crime.

The film was produced by Sophie Cassidy for 2.0 Entertainment together with MRC Film. Filming took place in Montreal in June 2025 under the working title Unabom, before being retitled Unabomber in March 2026, as reported by mxdwn Movies. Early reviews are mixed: /Film rated it 6 out of 10.
