“Unprecedented” — DP request for a motion with debate on SHISH rejected; Bardhi accuses: Parliament is evading responsibility
The chairman of the Democratic Party parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after the opposition’s request for a motion with debate on the SHISH case was rejected at the Conference of Presidents.
Bardhi said Parliament is evading its responsibility regarding the security of the Republic of Albania, which he called unprecedented in a democratic state.
“I condemn the blocking by the majority of the request for a debate. It is unimaginable that Parliament should evade its responsibility regarding the security of the Republic of Albania. This is not a matter for the judiciary. The judiciary’s job is to put behind bars and hold legally responsible whoever committed this criminal offence. Parliament does not have that competence, but it does have the competence of oversight over the executive power and the institutions, including SHISH. As part of that function, it has the responsibility to discuss one of the most unprecedented acts in a democratic country. We have no business with SPAK’s investigation, other than to leave them to do their work, encourage them to take it to the end and get to the head of this problem. The head is not Vlora Hyseni. The head of this affair, of the criminalisation of state institutions and of the use of state institutions as a protective mechanism for organised crime, is undoubtedly Rama,” Bardhi said.
