Unusual situation at the Kasharaj reservoir, Lushnja Municipality files a criminal complaint against the companies over the death of the fish

The Municipality of Lushnja has reacted to the case of the Kasharaj reservoir, which is facing an unusual situation. The cause is the marked drop in the water level, as a result of which the surface of the reservoir has been filled with fish.

Meanwhile, the Municipality of Lushnja has announced that it has taken legal steps in order to clarify the whole dynamic and identify the persons who “produced” the serious problem of the fish dying in this reservoir.

It is also announced that the Municipality of Lushnja has filed a criminal complaint with the Fier Prosecutor’s Office against the union of companies that won the right to rehabilitate the dam and the spillway at the Kasharaj reservoir.

The Municipality of Lushnja, after a preliminary verification of the information related to the situation at the Kasharaj reservoir, decided to take further legal steps in order to clarify the whole dynamic and identify the person/persons who “produced” the serious problem of the fish dying in this reservoir. The Municipality of Lushnja filed a criminal complaint with the Fier Prosecutor’s Office against the union of companies that won the right to rehabilitate the dam and the spillway at the Kasharaj reservoir.

The criminal complaint was filed because, during the works to reconstruct the reservoir’s damaged dam, the firm carrying out these works did not take the proper measures to manage the reservoir’s waters, resulting in serious damage to the fauna and the environment in this water basin. According to the contract, after the interruption of the works (requested by the firm itself) on 9 February of this year, the union of the two companies rehabilitating the reservoir dam should have notified the public institutions and especially the Municipality of Lushnja about the resumption of works in September, which did not happen! The Municipality of Lushnja understands the public sensitivity of the event and hopes that the legal bodies will clarify it as soon as possible.”
